Wakefield & District Liberal Democrats are calling on Reform to suspend a candidate over allegations of offensive social media posts.

Wakefield & District Liberal Democrats are calling on Reform to suspend their candidate for South Elmsall & South Kirkby, Arnold Tabor, following accusations that he made violently racist social media posts and expressed support for the Second World War fascist Oswald Mosley.¹

The anti-racism campaign group Hope Not Hate has linked Tabor to a YouTube account under the name “Fluffy McSpankins”.² Posts on the account have called for migrants to be murdered at sea, for those who reach Britain to be forced into state-controlled slavery, and have expressed support for Vladimir Putin’s war against Ukraine.

Leader of the Wakefield & District Liberal Democrats Council Group, Cllr Rachel Speak, said:

“It is appalling that Reform could be nominating candidates with such extreme views. Their candidates are asking the public to trust them with managing hundreds of millions of pounds of public money within weeks. Have Reform failed, yet again, in their candidate vetting by endorsing Mr Tabor, or were they aware of this account and simply didn’t care?”
