The Wakefield & District Liberal Democrats are the local party of the Liberal Democrats covering Wakefield Metropolitan District Council, including the City of Wakefield, the Five Towns (Normanton, Pontefract, Castleford, Knottingley and Featherstone), Ossett, Horbury, Hemsworth, Ackworth and the local villages. Our objective is to provide a true liberal alternative, grounded in community activism, to the failed Labour administration of the Council.

We are solely responsible for selecting Liberal Democrat candidates for the parliamentary constituencies of Pontefract, Castleford & Knottingley, and Normanton & Hemsworth. We share responsibility for the constituency of Wakefield & Rothwell with Leeds Liberal Democrats, and the constituency of Ossett & Denby Dale with Kirklees Liberal Democrats.
