The fight back against Reform starts here

Many residents across Wakefield District will be feeling worried and dismayed that Reform have taken control of the Council. We feel the same. In every area that Reform have taken control so far, they have brought nothing to the table except for Trump-style division and incompetence. Wakefield will now be the same.

For the past year, we've been building a team which offers a different vision for Wakefield. One where councillors are truly embedded in their local communities, fighting for residents all year round. This is what our councillors in Knottingley & Ferrybridge have been doing since 2019. Whilst a complacent Labour Party have been swept away by Reform, the Lib Dems in Knottingley have held firm. This is because local residents trust in our team to deliver real results for their area.

As a result of our hard work, the Liberal Democrats are now the official opposition to Reform on Wakefield Council.

The fight-back against this Reform administration must start with us Liberal Democrats. The badly-beaten Labour are in no position to challenge Reform, whilst the Greens only have a niche audience. The Liberal Democrat team, on the other hand, is growing rapidly. This year we contested more wards than ever before. Forgotten areas across the district are crying out for a community champion that only the Liberal Democrats can provide.
