The Knottingley & Ferrybridge Lib Dem FOCUS Team secured a victory for local residents on the 28th of January by successfully passing a motion at Wakefield Council to pause the withdrawal of the vital Care Link system.

The decision by Vico Homes, formerly known as Wakefield District Housing, to cancel Care Link has worried many Knottingley and Ferrybridge residents. At a full council meeting, Wakefield Lib Dems group leader Councillor Rachel Speak and deputy group leader Councillor Adele Hayes proposed a motion to stop the withdrawal of Care Link until a safe and secure alternative provider is in place. All present councillors voted for the motion.

Cllrs. Rachel Speak and Adele Hayes said: “We now hope Vico Homes listens and rethinks its position, recognising what Care Link means to so many people. Care must come before costings, and the right decision must be made for our elderly and vulnerable residents.”
